Another Prayer Request

This one is no less urgent than the last; a life is at stake.

Becky is 23 and just found out this afternoon that she is pregnant. Her sister is pressuring her to have an abortion.

She is scared and confused and she's considering the possibility. She needs lots of prayers!

Prayer Request

Ray pulled through the surgery with no complications at all. He's resting well and I appreciate the prayers of all of you here and those off line.

My good friend Ray is in grave danger of having a stroke. His carotid arteries are 90% blocked. He will be going in to surgery in the next couple of days.

Until that time he has to stay home and cannot even so much as climb a flight of stairs. Pray for him and pass this around if you would be so kind.

Surgery is scheduled for today (Friday morning). In fact, it's in about an hour. I'll update again as soon as possible. It looks like they have to do one artery at a time so there will be two operations in the next couple of days.

Battered Voter Syndrome

"Battered Woman Syndrome" is when women stay in a relationship despite sometimes severe abuse. They threaten to leave but they always come back and the cycle continues. They make excuses. "I know he really loves me, he's just having a hard time right now," or "I know I can change him, I just need more time." Then there is the biggest lie they tell themselves, "I have no where else to go."

Wake up Republicans! You people that continue to vote for Republican candidates are like women that stay in abusive relationships. Your party has viciously abused you and you keep going back because you think you have no alternative.

• Non-Military Spending - Congress proposes and Bush approves higher spending than any other president *SMACK*
• There is no small number of high-profile pro-abortion Republicans like Rudi Guiliani, Arnold Schwarzenegger, George Pataki and Mitt Romney among others. *PUNCH*
• Illegal immigration is an issue the GOP just isn't dealing with the way a 'conservative' party should. *SLAP*

I could go on and on and on but I think you get my drift. There are many battered voter shelters out there such as the Libertarian or Constitution party for those that actually believe in liberty and want to stand up for themselves. Until a sufficient number of Republicans stand up for what they really believe in and abandon their abusers, the GOP has no reason at all to change their tactics. Even a majority loss this November won't make much of a difference in terms of their long-term behavior. "Oh, baby come on back, I've changed, I promise." We all know what happens after that.

The Difference Between Men And Women

The other day I dropped by a friends house. He was running a few minutes behind and wasn't there when I got there so I decided to go up to the gas station on the corner to get something to drink.

As I was parking, my friend was pulling out the gas station. He rolls down his window and says, "Hey, I'll see you back at the house." I didn't say anything, I just nodded and walked away; he drove off.

Guys are just like that. Another friend of mine on the East Coast calls me and if he gets my voicemail he just calls and says "Difster, P____, call me." That's really all I need to know. He wants me to call. Sometimes we'll leave more specific messages but it's not the norm and only when the information has a time factor to it.

What a woman would generally take as being a bit rude, a guy takes no offense whatsoever to. If I called one of my female friends and just said, "This is Difster, call me," they would think something was wrong. Women require more information when leaving a message and they also give more information when leaving a message. If a woman left me a message that short, I'd probably get concerned too since it's unlike a woman to leave a message like that.

I don't mind the differences at all; I'm more amused by it than anything.

False Comparison

Paolo Scaroni, the CEO of Italian Oil company said, "Today, a barrel of oil is worth half a barrel of Coca-Cola. So you should put things into perspective."

Sarconi's comparison is absolutely false. If he were comparing some other fuel price to the price of a barrel of oil he might have a point. A comparison such as BTU per dollar or Euro would be a great comparison.

Another reason this is a false comparison is simply the amount of each product put to use. If oil was only consumed as purely a luxury item as Coke is, I expect it would be FAR more expensive per barrel than it is now. Of course it used to simply bubble up out of the ground in places which made it cheap to extract. In it's current state though where extraction of oil is an expensive and complicated process, the cost per barrel would likely be prohibitively expensive to produce in the same quantities as Coke is today. I tried to look up the annual figures of Coca-Cola production. The closest I could come is that something like a billion servings a day are consumed. If you think in terms of barrels of syrup compared to barrels of oil produced per day, I can't imagine that Coke even comes close to oil production levels.

Try another comparison to justify your stupid oil prices Mr. Scaroni, you're not fooling me!

Hillary For Dictator!

A Dumbacrat and Rethuglican have joined evil forces to install Hillary Clinton as Dictator President for Life.

They are co-sponsoring legislation that would be the first step in repealing the 22nd Amendment to the Constitution which limits a President to two terms in office. Even if it was repealed it would not allow Bush a third term.

This is such a bad idea I hardly know where to start. It could set us up for 12 years of Hillary. Incumbents are very difficult to defeat in an election. Sure, George H. W. Bush was defeated by Clinton, but if you were paying even the scantest attention to that race, you would have seen that the elder Bush wasn't even really trying to win. I think he was just tired.

I cannot think of one good reason why the 22nd Amendment should be repealed. In the early days of America, Presidents returned home to farms and careers. Some took a 'demotion' and served in the House and I think a few became Governors of their home states. In any case, it was not a position to be held on to for long periods of time.

Let's face it, the President of the United States has the power to change the history of the entire world just by holding a press conference. Do we really want that person to be allowed to hold power for more than 8 years? I don't think so.

As it is, I don't think we should ever elect the same person twice except under extraordinary circumstances. I am ashamed to admit I voted for Bush in round one. I voted for Badnarik instead of Bush in the last round though.

My guess is that this bill won't even make it out of committee but if it grows legs, we're going to have to make one doozy of a letter writing campaign to our Governor's in order to knock the wind out of it.

Bad Analogies

It's time dear readers for you to come up with some of your own bad analogies. I'll get you started with a few of my own.

• He's got less sense than a gaggle of geese on vacation in Fiji
• That boy was so tired he felt like a bag of marbles at the bottom of the lake
• I was happier than a green cat a blues festival.
• That woman is dumber than tree frog in a corn field.

Make me laugh, I dare you!

Excuses, Excuses

The disgraced Representative from Florida, Mark Foley is now claiming (40 years later) that he was molested by a clergyman as a youth. This claim comes after another recent claim that he is an alcoholic.

If our own elected representatives, who are supposed to be statesmen of the highest caliber cannot simply accept responsibility for their actions how can anyone expect us lowly peasants to do so?

Foley resigned in disgrace, why is he still in the news. Anyone with a shred of decency would have apologized without excuse and stepped out of the public eye. He obviously does not have any sense of decency or he would have done just that.

I'm also guessing that this whole incident is making the homosexual activists quite nervous. Here is another homosexual claiming he is the victim of sexual abuse. Is it just me or does it seem like nearly all homosexuals were victims of sexual abuse themselves? This is no excuse for the behavior that Foley has admitted to and it doesn't excuse any sort of sexual deviancy.

Knowing that homosexuality tends to be a by-product of sexual abuse, it gives those of us who are believers in Christ an opportunity to introduce those folks to the healing power of Jesus. The activists don't like this very much because they don't want to accept that they need healing and they deride any former homosexual who claims to be healed by God.

Don't let the fact of someone's homosexuality keep you from preaching the Gospel to them. They probably don't want to hear it. As a believer though, it's not you job to decide whether they want to hear it or not, it's your job simply to try. If they reject the message then you have done your duty, planted a seed and maybe the next person who tells them they can be forgiven for the sins will receive a better reception.

Always speak the truth in love to these people. Do not condemn them. Obviously Foley is a public figure and was seeking deviant sex but God will deal with his sin. In the mean time, he needs Jesus.

Throw The Bum Out!

The competition in professional sports is fierce. In particular, football and hockey are very aggressive sports. To play them at the top, you have to have a huge ego and you have to be tough. But you also have to be a professional.

Albert Heynesworth (henceforth to be known as Heinousworthless), a defensive tackle for the Tennessee Titans, stomped on the face of Dallas center Andre Gurode.

Not only was this an unprovoked attack, Gurode did NOT have his helmet on. You can watch the video by clicking here. The stomp is shown at the end of the clip.

If two players get in a tussle on the field and someone lashes out, who cares. People do get frustrated and tempers flare. Penalties usually take care of the problem. People get ejected from games and/or fined for their actions on a regular basis. There is just no excuse for what happened here.

Heinousworthless kicked the guy in the head just because he thought he could. As far as I'm concerned he should be banned from the NFL for his actions. At the VERY least, he should have to sit out the rest of the season and forfeit his salary.

Throw the bum out; the NFL has gone down hill far enough already for the last few years. A slap on the wrist for this moron will only encourage them.
