A Modern Day Hero

A man in Knoxville, TN has been arrested for shooting out red light cameras.

He apparently made some mistakes, but hopefully he'll serve as an inspiration for others. I'm not advocating illegal activity here, really I'm not but, if someone really wanted to know the best way to take out traffic cams and I was to offer my advice, this is what it would be. What I am about to describe is ILLEGAL. Do not attempt to do this. This post is for informational purposes only.
  1. Do NOT make your first target a cam you've been given a ticket from. Maybe your 4th or 5th if you make it that far. As it is, the police are going to comb the list of 'criminals' that have run red lights in that city or county. Preferably you should never target a cam in your city at all. But you can bet that if all the surrounding cities have their cams shot out and your city doesn't, they'll narrow it down a bit. Just don't be obvious.
  2. ONE SHOT - ONE KILL! It doesn't matter if you miss or just 'wound' the thing. Do not EVER take a second shot. There can be no exceptions to this rule.
  3. Take your shot from as far away from the cam as you can while maintaining your accuracy.
  4. Scope out your target at least a week in advance. If this becomes a Federal issue, they're going to have to review a lot of footage from surrounding surveillance cams to look for suspicious behavior. I don't credit the police with an overabundance of brains but there's no reason to make it easy for them.
  5. Do not use a weapon traceable to you and only use that weapon to take out the cams. If you use a variety of weapons you have a greater probability of getting caught.*
  6. Do NOT brag about what you've done. Someone will turn you in. Do what you're doing for ideological reasons; there is no reason to brag about. Get it done and keep your mouth shut.
  7. Know when to stop. The longer you keep doing it, the closer they'll get to catching you.
  8. Watch your background. Don't shoot at a cam that has housing or a building with lots of windows behind it. You're only trying to kill a cam, not a person.
  9. If you can, always have an alibi; preferably a different one for each act. Letting a potential alibi know why they're an alibi makes them an accessory. People like that will turn on you in a heartbeat if it keeps them out of jail if/when the cops get close.
  10. Be very observant of all your surroundings at all times during planning and execution.
Yes, I think that red light cams and the dearth of other surveillance cams invading our privacy are a detriment to our liberty. It's not just the cams either. It's the increasing thirst of bureaucrats for information about our lives in the interest of "security." One day, all of this stored data will be dumped in to some sort of quantum computer and you'll be categorized, ranked and rated for your overall threat level to society, yourself, your children, etc. Whatever the government deems merely inappropriate will be the law of the land because it will become increasingly easy to enforce their will and catch those that are not in compliance. As it is, if the technology existed today to capture all of your thoughts and store it in a database, the government would insist on doing it and say that it's for our own good.

Technology is encroaching on our freedoms daily. The answer is not less technology, it is, as always, less government.

*Some of you might suggest using as many different weapons as possible to disguise the fact that it's just one shooter. As far as I'm concerned it's better that they know they're looking for just one person and that the media knows it too. They would figure it out anyway.

No More Fetal Stem Cell Research

We can now put an end to the controversy over fetal stem cell research. It has suddenly become obsolete.

Ok, maybe it's not quite ready for prime time but it's a huge breakthrough and using aborted fetuses for this research may soon come to an end.

Personally, I think that the research we're doing in this regard and indeed the entire abortion culture we're living in will be looked back on as being utterly barbaric and antithetical to a society that values life and liberty as we once did.

An Unlikely Scenario

Barak Osama Obama is in a statistical dead heat with Hillary Clinton in a recent Iowa poll.

For the sake of clarity, I don't believe the poll numbers for Obama right now anymore than I do the number for Ron Paul polling at very low numbers. I believe the media is overstating the Obama threat for the sake of excitement and so it doesn't look like Hillary has already been crowned the nominee.

That being said, I want to explore the idea of a contest between Barak Obama and Ron Paul if both should win their respective nominations.

This would be a landslide election for Ron Paul for a number of reasons:
  1. America is barely ready for a female President, a black President is highly unlikely at this point. You'd have a lot of Southern Democrats in particular voting for Ron Paul. A lot of white moderates would also turn on the DNC in favor Ron Paul. The Hispanic vote for a black President would be nearly non-existent insofar as the Hispanic voting block is fairly weak anyway.
  2. There are trust issues. Barak Obama is an unknown quantity. He has no record to back him up, no notable achievements, no great political legacy. Ron Paul on the other hand has a consistent track record of espousing the same views for 30 years.
  3. Low voter turnout would be another issue. Let's face it, the Democrat base isn't going to get really excited about Obama and the typical die hard Republican who thought Giuliani was just fine isn't going to get real excited about a contest with a loser Democrat. Ron Paul supporters will be the heaviest turnout there is. They'll be knocking on doors and working the phones, etc.
A Ron Paul/Barak Obama contest is unlikely. Hillary has already been crowned by her party and Obama is just along for the ride. Don't forget to Register Republican and vote for Ron Paul in the Primary.

Ron Paul In The Polls

It appears that Ron Paul is gaining some significant momentum in the early primary states.

ARLINGTON, VIRGINIA—Republican presidential candidate Ron Paul is gaining momentum in New Hampshire and Iowa, according to a poll released Tuesday by CBS News and the New York Times. The Texas congressman has garnered an estimated 8 percent in New Hampshire, surpassing former GOP front-runner Fred Thompson, and is now tied with John McCain in Iowa.

Polls released over the weekend by the Boston Globe in association with the University of New Hampshire Survey Center, and the Marist College Institute for Public Opinion, both confirmed Congressman Paul’s support to be higher than Thompson’s as well.

“The polls confirm what we already know: Congressman Paul is catching on in the early primary states,” said Paul campaign spokesman Jesse Benton. “His unifying message of freedom, peace, and prosperity is resonating strongly with voters in Iowa and New Hampshire, and we’re rapidly gaining support nationwide.”

The CBS-New York Times poll was conducted November 2-12. On November 5, the Ron Paul campaign brought in a record-breaking $4.2 million online, and an additional $1 million to end the week.

And these were probably, as most of them are, phone polls to land lines which don't include the growing segment of people like me who only have a cell phone. The undercurrent of support out there not being reached by the pollsters is much bigger than anyone in the media want to let on. A good showing in any of the early primary states will propel him on the the national stage in a media sense. What happens from there is anyone's guess but if the media is forced to acknowledge him, things can only get better.

Ron Paul Silences Bernanke

This is really, truly awesome. Ron Paul grills Fed Chief Ben Bernanke about inflation and devaluing the dollar.

Bernanke's first two responses are to lie, dissemble and distort. Dr. Paul didn't flinch. The final response by Bernanke (or lack thereof) says more than he ever could by opening his big fat mouth.

This nearly brought me to tears. The very prospect that we COULD end up with a president that actually has a deep and abiding comprehension of economics gives me some hope for this country.

Hillary Helped Ron Paul

This is 2nd hand information but I was told that Rusty Humphries said on his show today that Ron Paul's record setting fund raising day had help from Hillary Clinton's campaign. The person who told me agreed that it's probably true because he thinks that if Ron Paul can raise enough money and then doesn't get the Republican nomination that he'll run as 3rd party candidate.

If I've erred in my misrepresentation of what Humphries said, I'm open to correction but I want to quash this notion before it catches any traction. This has to be an absolutely false notion for several reasons:
  • Ron Paul raised $4.2 million by 37,000 donors. That's an average of $113.51 per donor. I'm sure that some donated more and some donated less. It would take a "vast conspiracy" to get Hillary supporters to donate that much to the Ron Paul campaign. Word would get out. The person who told me about this said, "Well, maybe a lot of people only gave a little but someone with a lot of money like George Soros came in with a big check for the rest." BZZZZZ try again. There are contribution limits and in order for someone to write a big check, it would have had to be to the Republican party not directly to the campaign. Those funds surely wouldn't go to Ron Paul.
  • Hillary is too arrogant to think she can lose. She would never resort to helping the one man that she knows could defeat her if he got the nomination. Of course the Republicans that blindly follow the non-conservative candidates think Ron Paul doesn't stand a chance but there's no convincing them. If he gets the nomination, they'll have a lot of back-peddling to do.
  • I can't speak for the good doctor, but I don't think that he'd turn around and run as an independent. He'd never make it on the ballot in time in most states. He's more realistic than that and wouldn't run just to be vindictive.

Incredible!

Ron Paul, you know that guy who doesn't stand a snowball's chance in Hades of getting the Republican Presidential nomination? Yeah, that's the one.

He just set a new Republican record for fund-raising in one day. More than $4,200,000!!!

The record is still held by John Kerry who raised $5.7 million on the day he accepted the nomination from the Democratic party.

Who is this money coming from? Corporate lobbyists who think Ron Paul will do their bidding? Haliburton maybe? Islamic fundamentalist groups? No, it's coming from individual Americans who are fed up with our abuse of the Constitution and the stripping away of our civil liberties.

***REMEMBER*** If you haven't switched your party affiliation to Republican in order to vote for Ron Paul in the Republican Primary, do so quickly before it's too late!

Prayer Request

My cousin is more than likely going to have to have a C-Section in the next couple of days. There are a number of problems but she's only 30 weeks so the baby will be quite early.

Keep Darla and the little boy waiting to come out in your prayers!

Thanks everyone!

If It Wasn't A Muslim...

...they would have specified that in the story. The 'authorities' did not release any information about the identity of the suspect which again probably means that it was a Muslim or they would have quelled the fears and said so. There wasn't even the knee-jerk reaction that terrorism was not involved. The FBI is keeping a lid on this for a reason.

Who would bring a pipe bomb to a nuke plant? You don't make pipe bombs and then just accidentally leave one in your truck where it can be found. They obviously had reasons to have this guy under suspicion to search his truck so thoroughly that such a thing could be found.

If you guys spot anything else about this story, please let me know. I'm interested in finding out the "ethnic identity" of the suspect.

***UPDATE***

Thanks to Pablo, we have this update. The pipe bomb was found in the truck of Roger Hurd, 61, a contractor at the plant. A thorough search of his apartment turned up no connection to the bomb and Mr. Hurd is not under arrest.

So my initial guess that they more thoroughly searched a potential suspect was wrong; mea cuplpa. The mystery remains though. How did that pipe bomb get in his truck and who put it there.

Someone with greater access to sensitive areas could have planted it there and simply used him as an unwitting mule to get it through the gate. The scary part is, how many more pipe bombs have made it through and are being stockpiled at the plant in order to cause more damage?

Still no mention of terrorism in the follow-up article.
